Fashion Fiasco

I've been sneaking out lately. I hate the nook, there is to many beings in there. I like to retreat to my favorite spot, a small clearing with a large tree. The sun's rays touch my fur in the day. And I try to howl at the moon's night beauty. Maybe if I just howl loud enough, mother would hear me. But she never does. I nap in the soft shade, under the big oak tree. I nibble on the grass, it makes my stomach hurt less. I've not been feeling good lately, it feels as if my insides want to come out. Being in the nook makes it worse. The pain gnaws at my belly area. And my head rings with every voice I hear. I wish I could tell them how I feel, but they don't understand. I bark and whine and growl. But they don't speak the same. The caretaker of the nook, Alma, doesn't like it when I bark. She says to use my words. But i am. Alma gives me lots of weird types of food, berries, and vegetables. She hasn't tried meat, I hope she will. I can't hunt on my own, so i've retreated to eating small bugs. They are nasty, and don't fill me up. Hunger is not a good feeling. Alma has called me into her room. I take a few wobbly steps to her. She scolds me on how I was sneaking out, and how i need to eat. Then she puts a cloth ring around my neck. I instantly freak out. Mother had taught me that if something grabs your neck, get away. The neck is very important, it holds what makes you howl. Alma calms me down, but now i'm enraged. Why was this on me? I hate it! The cloth has a little bell on it, it jingles when I move. Alma says that now she can hear me if I get out. Just great. Alma has been calling me Periwinkle. What a prissy name. Sounds like a delicate flower. She says its for my soft clue accents, but periwinkle is a soft violet. Why do I have to have a name? Are they that necessary?

Story time! Periwinkle has not been doing well. She has been sneaking out of the nook, and feeling ill. And top of that her name is Periwinkle? What a baby name.
